Why I became a Mason

It took many years of my life to come to two very important conclusions. First to conclude who I was as a person, and what the world truly is (not just the way I want it to be.) Upon coming to these two conclusion I immediately knew that I need to be associated with "like minded" men.

I am a firm believer in the proverb that says "You will know a tree by the fruit that it bears." This being the case, I wanted to align myself with other men who had the same moral, ethical and uprightness of person that I had. I wanted to know that anywhere in the world I may travel, I would stand among men who stood tall and conducted themselves uprightly. I knew that if I were accepted into this brotherhood, I would gain the knowledge and support I so desperately needed to mold myself into the man I needed to be.

It was through the unselfishness of my brothers, who have given so much of their time to help and teach me, that I have become the man I am today. Masonry can only teach someone what it is they want to be taught. Sometimes the lessons learned are the ones that we NEED to be taught and just don't yet realize it.

Today, I anxiously await the moment that I may help my fellow brother as so many have helped me. It will be the greatest honor I can imagine.

Become a mason! Not me, I was

Become a mason! Not me, I was born in a lodge wherein my Dad was the Master who thought to raise everyone.   His road was a hard one as mankind thinks most times if you are kind you are weak, most times. Louis Armstrong, Lena Horne, many others spent the Saint John days in our small but welcome residence.  But this is the most important fact; my Dad not a person of colour, attempted himself to set examples of Brotherhood where ever his mind set upon.  There were over one hundred raised with us.  When he saw some merely wanted a social experience we came to Texas and Waco where he set aside certifications and documents for those who were true.  See my Brothers, my Brothers masonry is a quest as the knights of yore set out upon. All our lives my beloved let Us prepare for the work T.G.A.O.T.U. has planned for Us in this new land.  Yes, there is a reason for our diligence. Born a mason, live a mason be a mason
