I am Ray Forrester, I began my masonic journey on 11/15/1975 in a small up-stairs lodge in Lovelady TX. ( Lovelady Lodge 539). (My great grand father, grand father and dad as well as five Forrester Uncles and Great Uncles were masons.) It was a very cold night, 18 degrees outside and 8 degrees inside. Never the less, sweat was running off me in sheets. After being raised, I was quickly installed as JW of that lodge. Shortly there after, I was promoted in my Job and relocated to Rosharon TX. I took a plural membership with Alvin Lodge 762. I would attend lodge as I could, my work schedual permitting. I worked in several degrees at several lodges and taught several dozen men the work.
In 1992 I retired from my job and moved back home to Prairie Hill/Coolidge TX. I transfered my membership to Prairie Hill 741 in 1992, Shortly there after I was installed as SW at Prairie Hill and progressed through the chairs, serving as WM in 1996,97-97,98.
I became secretary in 1998 and hold that position to date. I have over the past few years become a plural member in Eutaw lodge 233 ( Kosse), Longbotham Lodge 428 (Wortham) Riesel Lodge 835 ( Riesel), Cotton Gin Lodge 154 (Kirvin), Mart Lodge 636. (Mart). I also hold offices in those lodges -Prairie Hill (SEC) Kosse (JUNIOR WARDEN), Longbotham ( JUNIOR WARDEN) Riesel (SENIOR DEACON) Cotton Gin (WORSHIPFUL MASTER) Mart, (JUNIOR WARDEN) I have a life membership in Riesel, Endowed in Prairie Hill, Eutaw, and Cotton Gin. I am Past master of Eutaw. I am Past DDGM 05' Present DDGM 10' I still teach canadates when ask, and am curently teaching three. I am a Scottish Rite mason and a Shriner.
I think a man gets out of masonary what he puts into it and more. I am very active, and I am seeking more light at every corner. I enjoy visiting lodges other than those in my District. I encourage all masons to visit other lodges as much as possible As previously stated, I belong to Six lodges and make every meeting at those lodges in addition to two others, Boggy, Teague and Fairfield, Fairfield I have been ask, " when do you have time to do anything else?" I always say, " Going to lodge does not take away my time it adds to it ".
I am a Constable in Limestone Co, and have been a peace officer in several capicities since 1991. Doing that job also helps me in masonary in so far as I am capable of being off any time I need or want to be.
Looking forward to seeing al at GLOT.
