Charities
The Grand Lodge of Texas
provides care for the widows and children of its deceased or
troubled members through the Texas Masonic Retirement Center
in Arlington and the Texas Masonic Home and School in Fort
Worth.

Admission of Widows to the
Texas Masonic Retirement Center
An application must be
completed and approved by the lodge of which the deceased
husband was a member. The vote of the lodge may be at either a
called or stated meeting. Facts not known by the widow's lodge
may be certified by the lodge nearest the residence of the
widow.
The Board of Directors
has established the following general requirements for the
admission of widows to the Texas Masonic Retirement Center
through the Masonic Home and School:

Only the widow of a
deceased Master Mason in good standing in a Texas lodge
at the date of his death will be admitted.

If married more than
once, a widow's last husband must have been a Mason.

A widow whose age and
physical condition are such that she can earn a living
will not be admitted.

If there is sufficient
property to care for a widow, or if her children are
able and willing to care for her, she will not be
admitted.

Transportation to and
from the Home must be provided without any expense to
the Home.

Property owned by the
widow must be assigned to the Texas Masonic Home and
School.

Upon the death of a
widow, the sponsoring lodge is responsible for assisting
with funeral expense only if there is a desire to be of
assistance
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD A
WIDOW BE
SENT TO THE RETIREMENT CENTER
until the lodge making application has been notified by the
Superintendent
that the applicant is eligible and the Retirement Center
prepared to receive her.

TO ALL PARTIES APPLYING FOR SERVICES:
General Information:
Masonic Children & Family Services of Texas, located in Hurst, Texas, is maintained and operated by The Grand Lodge of Texas for Masonic and Non-Masonic children living throughout Texas. All applicants must be approved by a Texas Lodge in accordance with the Grand Lodge law and board of director’s rules.
If the applicant has/have Masonic relatives, the relative’s lodge is encouraged to sponsor the
applicant. However, a lodge closer to the applicant may provide additional information to the
sponsoring lodge, if necessary
Applicant(s), parent(s), legal guardian(s), managing conservator(s), and family(s) are at liberty torefuse services at anytime.
Masonic Children & Family Services of Texas may refuse services at any time, should staff
determine that Masonic Children & Family Services of Texas is no longer able to provide the best services for the applicant.
Application Requirements & Procedures:
Applicant must have an identified need
Applicant must be a resident of Texas
An application must be completed by the responsible legal guardian or persons seeking services
Applicant must provide proof of income (See application for types)
Use & Disbursement of the Fund
No race or ethnic background is to be used for determination of assistance;
Masonic affiliation is given priority;
Applicant and/or Legal Guardian must actively and positively participate in the treatment and
resolution of their case to remain eligible for services;
Applicant and/or Legal Guardian must agree to fill out required surveys/feedback on services
received;
Consideration of all expenditures a family may have, including any special circumstance are
reviewed in determining approval;
If other resources are available, they are considered when making a decision regarding
application approval; and
Financial support is not guaranteed and is contingent upon eligibility, availability of funds, and a qualified provider;

The charity and service

application of that Masonic purpose, "to cultivate the
exercise of charity in its best and broadest sense and
generally . . . to promote the happiness of mankind." You

Texas Masons are justly
